Should I Hire a Nutrition Coach?
Let’s start with the obvious—this is a loaded question coming from a certified nutrition coach. But hear me out! I’ve built my career and business around helping people succeed in their nutrition, weight loss, and health goals. It’s my passion, and honestly, I feel it’s my duty to share why hiring a nutrition coach might be the game-changer you’ve been searching for.
So, should you hire a nutrition coach? My short answer is YES.
Here’s why, and what you can expect when working with one.
Why People Struggle with Nutrition and Weight Loss
If you’re someone who has struggled to lose weight or stay consistent with healthy eating, a coach could be exactly what you need. From my experience, most people hit roadblocks for three key reasons:
1. You Don’t Know What to Eat
Let’s be real—the internet is a noisy place. Some advice is helpful, and some of it? Total nonsense. It’s hard to know what’s legit, and even the “good” advice doesn’t always work for everyone. Why? Because we’re all different.
Plus, many so-called “successful” programs only show the first 30 days. What about 3 months later? Or a year? Losing weight quickly is fine, but if the plan isn’t sustainable, you’ll feel like a failure when it inevitably stops working. Spoiler: it’s not you—it’s the plan.
And let’s not forget that our food system is filled with overly processed, low-quality options designed for convenience, not health. They make weight loss feel like an uphill battle.
2. Life is Too Busy
Between work, kids’ activities, and weekend events, meal prep and self-care often fall to the bottom of the to-do list. Waiting for life to “slow down” so you can focus on your health? Unpopular Opinion: it rarely does.
At Well Fed Health, we teach you how to fit healthy habits into your busy schedule, one small, intentional step at a time.
3. Lack of Support and Accountability
Let’s face it—when you’re trying to eat well and stay active, it can feel like you’re the odd one out. And when motivation dips, it’s easy to fall back into old habits. Why? Because it’s what everyone around you is doing.
That’s where having a strong community or a coach can make all the difference. Sometimes, just knowing someone has your back is enough to help you stick with it.
What a Nutrition Coach Can Do for You
A great nutrition coach helps you tackle these common barriers head-on. They’ll:
- Teach you about food so you don’t have to rely on the internet or influencers.
- Tailor everything to YOUR unique needs, body, and relationship with food.
- Hold you accountable with regular check-ins, feedback, and support.
Different programs offer varying levels of accountability. Some 1:1 coaches provide weekly or bi-weekly live calls or electronic check ins, while others include group calls or private communities. The key is finding a style of coaching that fits your needs and budget.
